March 12-24, 2023, Fred & Debby Breedlove taught First Aid and CPR, to 150+ students in Rio Frio, Costa Rica. Students learned how to stop bleeding, treat choking victims, perform CPR, recognize and treat other illnesses and injuries. Train-The-Trainer classes were also be taught to local missionaries so they can continue this training in the future, and they were also given CPR manikins. A lesson in snake bite first aid A major highlight of the trip was when a 12-year old girl saved her friend's life just one week after attending our first class at Iglesia Gran Comision Rio Frio Church (Great Commission Church Rio Frio). Pastor Ted & Graciela Quiocho's ministry is named One Another Missions ("https://oneanothermissions.org/"), and Iglesia Gran Comision is a major part of that ministry which serves several rural communities in Rio Frio. The American missionaries were also taught the official American Red Cross class "Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED", and received official certifications for the class. They plan to be incorporating First Aid/CPR training into their ministry to several communities in Rio Frio, Costa Rica, so all of the equipment and supplies will make that possible. |
Each student was given a custom First Aid Kit contained in a 1-gallon zip lock bag after completing the First Aid and CPR class. Along with printed First Aid/CPR instructions, the kit contains two Gauze Pads, two Gauze Rolls, two Antibacterial Wipes, twenty Adhesive Bandages, one tube of Triple Antibiotic Ointment, and First Aid instructions written in Spanish.
